Abigail's story
The phone rang on our mobile unit one afternoon. On the other end was Abigail, a young woman whose trembling voice told the story of fear and regret. She had ordered the abortion pill online — shipped directly to her home — believing it was her only option. Alone and overwhelmed, she didn’t think she could handle pregnancy or motherhood. The process seemed quick, private, and easy. But after taking the first pill, a wave of panic and deep regret set in.
Desperate for help, she searched online and found our number. Our nurse, Lora, answered the call. She listened, comforted, and immediately reached out to our medical contact to obtain the medication that can sometimes reverse the effects of the abortion pill. The treatment was started, but sadly, too much time had passed. The baby did not survive.
Abigail’s story isn’t rare.
Every month, more than 8,000 abortion pills are shipped to women across the country — women who are scared, pressured, and searching for hope. That’s why the work of our ministries matters so deeply, now more than ever! Every woman deserves compassionate, confidential care — at no cost — where she can find real help, hear the hope Jesus offers, and be reminded of her incredible value and the precious life within her.
CARMEN'S story
When we first met Carmen, she was 21, sleeping on her mother’s sofa and feeling uncertain about her future. She suspected she was pregnant, and she came to the Women’s Health and Wellness Center to find out for sure.
Carmen shared with Sue that she felt completely unprepared to have a baby. Her relationship with her boyfriend was unstable, and she was convinced he wouldn’t stick around if she chose to continue the pregnancy. Fear and doubt filled her heart as she waited for the test results.
Sue listened. She offered compassion, hope, and the truth of the Gospel. Together, they prayed before Carmen quietly walked out the door — and Sue didn’t hear from her again.
Until five years later.
To Sue’s surprise and joy, Carmen returned — this time for an ultrasound with her third child. She was radiant and full of gratitude. She shared that she had married the very boyfriend she once feared would leave, and that they were now the proud parents of 2 beautiful children, including a five-year-old daughter — the same baby Carmen had been carrying during that first visit.
Today, Carmen and her husband are part of a loving church family. Through tears, she told Sue how that day years ago — when someone listened, prayed, and showed her kindness — changed everything.
